Stop Focusing on Your Dream

How do you fully engage in your progress?
You know what you want to accomplish. You’ve dreamed about it for years. But you’ve come up against a block. This newsletter is for you if you’re experiencing one of the following scenarios:
You’re still in dream mode. You haven’t acted on anything. You don’t know where to start.
You’ve started, but you feel uncertain and don’t know if you’re headed in the right direction. You feel unprepared.
I want you to stop focusing on your ultimate goals, dreams, and visions - those things out in the distance. You know they exist, but you can’t see them clearly from where you stand. It’s like looking out on the horizon at some object. It’s a building, but you can’t see any of the details. How big is it? How many windows does it have? Who knows? You know that as you get closer it will come into focus, but right now it’s difficult to make out.
The first thing to get obsessed over is how to start where you are with what you have.
You are smart. You are industrious. You are a problem-solver. You can handle anything that presents itself as an impenetrable block. You have MacGyver level skills.
Whittle things down to the bare essentials. If you’re unsure whether something is essential or not ask yourself, “Is this something I must have in place to start?”
Here’s an example to highlight boiling things down to a simplistic state:
Do you need special clothes to workout? No.
Do you need a gym membership? No.
Do you need anything other than you? No.
True ‘nuf, you may feel out of place working out in your day wear, but you could still do it.
Your biggest block is not being decisive. Have you ever made a decision about something that was weighing on you, and upon deciding you felt instant relief? That’s the level of decision-making I’m talking about.
This is when you can (obsessively) get to work.
You may call this motivation - this drive you feel to initiate. But it stems from your action, your decision.
“If you choose not to decide, you have made a choice.”
What I have experienced is that I am most fulfilled when I decide that my vision is worthy of being obsessively pursued. I have observed the same with people I’ve coached.
What does healthy, organic, and pesticide-free obsession look like?
The job seeker who preps her résumé and applies to jobs ceaselessly, without becoming sidelined when job offers don’t pour into her inbox. She skills up when it is necessary. She networks with people in her field.
The solopreneur who invests time in market research to ensure her product is needed. She identifies others successful in her field to learn how they’ve structured their businesses, and she applies those lessons.
The person trying to make lifestyle changes to improve her physical, mental, and emotional health. She seeks out quality resources and experts in the areas she wants to improve, and she puts them in place consistently. She doesn’t wait for anyone to do these things with her; she’s doing it for herself.
Keep the process simple:
Daily indoctrination - seeking knowledge, applying it, and tweaking it to fit your specific situation.
Focus - understanding the difference between time freedom and free time to use your time most effectively.
No excuses - moving towards your goal, dream, or vision every day, despite blocks (e.g., doubt, fear, uncertainty, lack of resources). You are a problem-solver.

Fill your glass with these to quench a dehydrated goal, dream, or vision.
The journey to your destination is the dream, goal, or vision. The destination is the culmination and realization of everything you’ve learned along the way. You obsess over the journey to make it your destination.
I know that you can obsess your way to accomplishing that goal, dream, or vision you’ve been thinking about. Our poll revealed that 85% of you have obsessed over learning something new to the point of becoming a quasi-expert. You have all the tools you need!
Go slow. There’s no rush. Operate like a sleek machine.
